Last week, our strategy team got together at Thorpe Park Hotel in Leeds for our annual strategy day, a chance to review our progress, challenge our thinking and agree where we’re heading next.

At JTM Service, we’ve spent the past five years developing a structured approach to planning for the future, using the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS). We agree long term ambitions, three-year and one-year goals, and quarterly priorities which we call our “Rocks”.  It’s been an important part of our growth and success. Our strategy is shaped by a team from across the business. Meeting every quarter to review progress and once a year to look again at the bigger picture.

So, what did we get up to?

With the help of our EOS chair, Nick Bates, we covered plenty of ground, including:

  • Our Values: We revisited Heart, Drive and Integrity, and the behaviours behind them. We’re just as proud of these Values now, and what they mean to us, as we were when we first agreed them.
  • Our Niche and Purpose: We reviewed what we do, who we do it for and, importantly, why we do it.
  • What makes us different: We reviewed our target markets and our ‘Uniques’, the combination of strengths that make JTM Service who we are.
  • Our ambitions: We revisited our longer-term plans, including where we’d like JTM Service to be in three and ten years, and updated our plans for the next twelve months.
  • Our priorities: We finished by agreeing our next set of quarterly ‘Rocks’, the key actions and priorities we’ll focus on to keep moving forward.

Of course, a strategy day isn’t just about plans, targets and action points. One of the best things about the day is bringing together people from different parts of JTM Service, each with their own experiences, ideas and perspectives. There’s always plenty to discuss, and having different viewpoints around the table helps us explore new ideas, think creatively and make better decisions about the future.

We’re proud of how far JTM Service has come, but we’re certainly not standing still. We’ve got plenty of ambitions for the years ahead, and days like this help us turn those ambitions into reality.

A big thank you to everyone who contributed, and to Nick for guiding us through another productive day!
