In hygienically sensitive areas (e.g. care and nursing homes), disinfection of laundry is essential. This means the commercial washing machines used have to be able to achieve and maintain the required temperatures for disinfection.
Miele’s Little Giant range of commercial washing machines (with load capacities of 6kg to 8kg), together with their Benchmark range (with load capacities of 12kg to 20kg), have previously been awarded the Gold Seal of Approval by the Institute for Integrative Hygiene and Virology to certify they meet exacting standards on hygiene, which includes deactivating more than 99.9% of all viruses.
These ranges of commercial washing machines have now been awarded an even higher standard, the Black Seal of Approval. This has been awarded for both the disinfection wash cycles and the additional safety standards within the equipment, for example:
- thermal and chemo-thermal disinfection programmes offering a large margin of safety
- automatic locking once the programme has started to prevent premature termination of the wash process
- after the disinfection phase, no further water is taken in via the soap drawer which significantly reduces the risk of recontamination
