Did you know that converting to a heat pump tumble dryer can typically generate energy savings of 65%, helping you save money and protect the environment? With Heat Pump commercial tumble dryers from JTM Service, you could make energy savings of nearly £2,000 per dryer per year!
Heat Pump Tumble Dryer vs Vented or Condenser
Tumble dryers traditionally came in “vented” or “condenser” models. A Vented dryer removes moisture from the laundry by heating the air to evaporate the moisture, and send it outside the building through a vent in the external wall. A Condenser dryer removes moisture in a similar way but then condenses the vapour into a liquid which is then stored in a tank, which needs to be emptied.
A Heat Pump tumble dryer works similarly to a condenser dryer, but it recycles the hot air via a refrigerant loop system. This closed-loop heat exchange system recirculates the hot air to continue drying the laundry, rather than releasing the heat and needing to create it again. They dry at a lower temperature, and this means the energy requirements are much lower.
Cost Saving and Sustainable
By reducing the energy required, this makes the machine more efficient, it saves on energy costs, and it improves sustainability and protects the environment.
How much you can save depends on the specific machine and how it is used, but as a couple of examples:
- The Miele Professional PDR507 Heat Pump Tumble Dryer – this is the market leading, 7kg capacity, tumble dryer. This consumes 50% less energy than the vented tumble dryer, and reduces energy consumption by 65% compared to the previous condenser model. At current electricity prices this would lead to a typical saving of £1,376 per year (based on 6 cycles a day).
- The Electrolux Professional TD6-14 Tumble Dryer – this 14kg capacity heat pump tumble dryer can generate 62.5% energy savings compared to the vented option, saving £1,851 per annum (based on 6 cycles per day).
