What is your role?

I am the Finance & Administration Director here at JTM Service

What does your role involve?

I manage all things finance and admin related. Finance wise, I produce our monthly management accounts, complete the payroll, VAT and produce reports which the management team uses to run the business. Admin wise I oversee all admin processes within the business to ensure they are running effectively. In the last 12 months, I headed up the project to replace our IT system and am pleased to say the implementation was a success.

How long have you been with JTM Service?

I have been with JTM Service for 21 years, over half of my life!

How has JTM Service changed in that time?

When I first started we had 2 service engineers and 1 installer. We now have 12 service engineers and 3 install engineers. Our geographic region has quadrupled and our offices have been expanded twice to create more space for new starters. The working atmosphere has most certainly improved over the years as has the focus on looking after our staff. We are provided with great benefits now.

How have you changed in that time?

I was only 19 when I started and was halfway through my accountancy apprenticeship. I have grown up, become a mum, a wife and expanded my knowledge greatly. I’m very proud to be able to confidently say I have done and can do any job in the office. I know the business inside out and thoroughly enjoy coming to work.

How has your role changed since you started?

I was an apprentice when I started and helped in the sales dept and then moved onto service. I was the stores person at one point responsible for the engineers and head office stock. I then took over the finance side when our office manager left and then worked my way up to Office Manager, then Finance & Admin Manager and now Finance & Admin Director. I am involved in most areas of the business and the only thing I think I haven’t tried my hand at is actually fixing a machine!

What do you enjoy about your job?

Most of all I love the people I work with. I can hand on heart say we have a great team here at JTM Service and we all do care for each other. We have great fun on our nights out and our company meetings are always a laugh. It’s nice to work with a great bunch of people.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

I am a listening volunteer with the Samaritans, so I spend some of my spare time being there to help others when they need it most. I enjoy spending time with my family, going out for family walks with our dogs. I am a twin so see my sister as much as I can and of course my niece who is my little angel!  I’m also one of those boring people that love to clean!

What are you most proud about?

My son, Joseph. It took me a long time to become a mum and I had to go through IVF. He is my little miracle and the most important thing in my life. And he knows it and has me wrapped around his little finger!

What is the best holiday you have ever had, and is there somewhere you would love to go?

The most amazing place I have ever been on holiday was the Maldives. It was literally like something off of a postcard and the snorkelling was awesome. Literal paradise on earth. We have a wish list at home of places we’d like to go and some of them are Canada, Australia & Japan.

Any interesting fact or facts about you?

I’m an identical twin but am the younger one by a whole 4 minutes which I like to make a point of.

Any funny story about you?

I am happy to admit to doing something silly every so often and I’m sure my husband could tell you loads of stupid things I’ve done which generally results in me falling over and hurting myself. Most recently, I was confidently using the brand new hedge trimmer my husband had bought that morning and decided I needed to give it a little more support and put my hand under the moving blades to hold it steady! Next thing we were off to A&E and I nearly passed out because I thought I’d chopped my finger off. Luckily I hadn’t, but needless to say, I am now banned from using the hedge trimmer. Gets me out of a job I suppose!
