The JTM Service Temperature Validation Assessment – Hygiene and Infection Control has never been more critical, especially in Health, Care, Housing Associations and Animal Care. Disinfection for laundry and dishwashing is traditionally achieved by heat which relies on a certain temperature being achieved for a certain amount of time. The Department of Health guidance in HTM 01-04 states “The washing process should have a disinfection cycle in which the temperature of the load is either maintained at 65°C for not less than ten minutes or 71°C for not less than three minutes when thermal disinfection is used.”

At JTM Service we have expertise in this and offer a specialised service, The JTM Service Temperature Validation Assessment, to validate that the correct time-temperature relationships are being met to ensure the wash meets the recognised disinfection standards. We have been carrying out temperature validation assessments for many years and this assessment includes:

    • Placing a sensor in the washing machine or dishwasher during a wash cycle
    • Interrogating this using specialist software to identify the temperature at set time intervals throughout the wash cycle (e.g. every 5 seconds)
    • Produce a report for each machine to show whether the required temperatures were maintained for the appropriate amount of time and recommendations if the machines did not meet requirements
    • This report can be used to demonstrate that the machines are meeting the standards required for infection control

At JTM Service we pride ourselves on offering a partnership approach with unbeatable service to ensure best practice is followed and can be demonstrated. If you would like to discuss how we can help you with temperature validation please contact us on 0800 652 5692 or email info@jtmservice.co.uk.
